New Projects

I have been working on couple of items for myself in between making bits and pieces to sell.   The pendant has a multicoloured Druzy teardrop surrounded in sterling silver.  I am afraid that my photo does not show off the colours in the Druzy to their best.  The ring has a glass Dichroic cab centre with a handstamped band.  These items took me a bit longer to make but I love how they have turned out and I am hoping to make some more of these handworked items for the shop.

First Snow of the Year

Well here it is, the first snow of the year and I have caught another cold.   Seems to be allsorts of bugs going around at the minute and I seem to be catching my fair share!  Anyway as I was sniffing and coughing in the warm house, I thought I would take a wintry picture of Jack, Harry & Baxter's home which I promised back in September - better late than never.  Not that they were in their kennel today, but when they are it's no different from the house as their indoor bed at the back is heated and we leave a radio on for them.

Back Online

Normal service has resumed.   I am back online and about time too.   It has been sooooo frustrating.  

The house is liveable but still loads of decorating, boxes to unpack and we have not really touched the garden, except for installing a brand new shed and kennels for my boys.   They love the new garden and it's not nice seeing them stuck in the house while we are at work, so they have a brand new kennel each.   I will get some photos of them, once I find my camera

We're In!

Yes, we are now living in our new house, surrounded by boxes, bags and DIY materials.   We have all sorts of work to do over the coming months, but the main thing is to get the bedrooms decorated and the new carpets down.   I was sad to leave my old house as we had been there for five years and I loved that house, but on seeing my three boys (the dogs) running in and out of the house and around the back garden, I knew we have made the right decision.

Anyway, I think I have located all my jewellery and gifts so business is up and running as usual with only one hitch, we have no internet at home for about a month, so I will have to pick up my emails up elsewhere.  

Any orders received before 4pm Monday to Thursday will be sent out the next day, anything received on a Friday before 1pm will be sent out on Saturday, but anything after that time, will not be able to be posted out until Tuesday of the following week.   Apologies for any inconvenience this may cause, but hopefully this won' be for too long.

Moving House

I will be moving home shortly and have had to pack away all my jewellery and gift items as I am at work all this next week.   I will therefore not be able to despatch any items until after the move - 22nd August.   Items can still be purchased or reserved but will not be despatched until that time.  Apologies for the inconvenience, but deliveries will get back to normal after that date (or as normal as it can do until I get my new workroom up and running properly).

Spotty Dog Tags

I have been looking for some nice tags to add to my packaging, but have not been able to find any I liked, so I decided to make some.   My mam is an avid card maker, so I bought myself a little dog cutter die to use with her Cuttlebug and my mam gave me some different spotty card.  It is time consuming making them, but I think they are well worth the effort once finished.

Finished Pieces

At last!   I have finished some of the pieces of jewellery I have been making for the past week and a bit - three pairs of fine silver earrings and three fine silver pendants.  These are all listed in the Precious Metals section of the website ready and available to purchase.

Work in Progress

Where has this week gone?!?!  It doesn't seem 5 minutes since I was making silver clay charms last weekend and I don't seem to have got much further with them.   I did get around to firing them and polishing them up, but that is it!  I am also in the process of making some stacking message rings.  These have been cut, soldered, shaped and roughly sanded down but still need a lot more work on them too. 

So I have lots to do and not much time this week.   I have today free, after I have dropped my partner off at the Golf Course.  There is a BBQ planned for tomorrow, but the weather is not looking too promising.  I may get something done on Bank Holiday Monday but after that I have a busy week ahead and I am going away on Thursday to Brighton for a wedding and will not be back until Sunday night, so I need to get my head into gear to finish some items off and stop writing

Productive Morning

I have been mucking around lately and not really making anything, so I decided to have a morning with some silver clay.  

I didn't know what to make, so I ended up with a few small bits and pieces which can be made into different kinds of jewellery once fired.  These are currently in the process of drying, but I am hoping to get these fired tonight and polished up tomorrow.

The largest of the pieces is to make a pendant, along with the round butterfly.   The swirly hearts could make charms, pendants or earrings.  The flowers and domed circles were to make earring studs and the double heart was made with the possibility of adding it to a Sterling Silver ring, but you never know, I may change my mind once they are cleaned up.

Missing Friends

My friends from the Silver Jewellery class are all starting a Glass Jewellery course today and I cannot be there!  I have used up all my holidays and cannot take the time off work to go with them.  

I must admit that it is not the course that I am missing but my friends and especially Diane's cakes!  Diane makes the most lovely cakes, including Chocolate Guiness Cake (my personal favourite), Pavlovas, Cherry & Walnut etc.  

Anyway, even though I cannot be there, we do hope to keep in touch and I hope they are all have a great time (without me).

Personalised Ring

I have just finished off a new ring.   This was just a trial run as I was not sure how it would look.   I had started this ring on Wednesday after my last silver jewelley lesson but only got chance to get down to the workshop to polish it up today. 

  I am pleased with how it turned out except for the stamping inside, which is not perfect so I am afraid I will have to keep this one for myself (what a shame!)

Silver Jewellery Course

I have had my last lesson on making Sterling Silver Jewellery.   I have taken a 12 week course to get me started and today was my last day  

To date I have made rings, bangles, pendants, earrings and charms in Sterling Silver, Fine Silver (Silver Clay), copper and brass and now that I have finished the course, I am hoping to continue making further items at home and my friend Chris' workshop to add to the shop. 

It is fair to say that I have neglected the beaded jewellery side of the shop lately and I shall get back to making more items real soon, but in the meantime I have added some findings and beads to my jewellery kits sections with more to come once I get chance to take photographs and list them.
